Deep and long-lasting hydration
Oleic acid's ability to penetrate the cortex means that moisture doesn't evaporate quickly. Dry, curly, or chemically treated hair—which tends to lose water more easily—finds olive oil a real ally, not a palliative.
Damage protection
Hair fiber has a protein structure that deteriorates with heat, coloring, and frequent washing. Olive oil, acting from within, strengthens this structure, reducing brittleness and limiting breakage during combing.
In cosmetic studies, oleic acid-based treatments have shown a significant reduction in fiber breakage compared to formulations without penetrating oils.
Skin balance
Olive oil contains squalene and vitamin E, two components that mimic the natural sebum produced by the skin. This biochemical compatibility also makes it ideal for the scalp: it does not alter the natural pH, does not stimulate excessive sebum production, and does not irritate.
On the contrary, its regulating effect helps the scalp find its balance—particularly valuable for those suffering from dryness, itching, or irritation.
Antioxidant protection
The polyphenols found in extra virgin olive oil (particularly oleocanthal and oleuropein) have documented antioxidant properties. For hair, this translates into greater resistance to oxidative stress caused by UV rays, pollution, and heat from styling tools.
Over time, this protection helps maintain the color's shine—even on color-treated hair—and slow down the signs of aging.
